Your numbers

Module 5 of 5

Written by Mauriel, founder of Golden Hour Talent

Last module. This one is not reading, it is work, and it is the only one that changes anything.

Everything so far has been someone else's numbers. Now you write down yours. Most creators have never done this, which is exactly why they cannot tell whether they are doing well, doing badly, or leaving a fortune on the table.

Estimates are fine. Nobody is grading you and there are no wrong answers. Guess honestly rather than leaving something blank.

Why this is worth twenty minutes

By the end you will know two things you almost certainly do not know right now: what share of your subscribers ever buy anything from you, and what you are actually earning per hour worked. Those two numbers explain your entire business, and most people in this industry avoid calculating them for a reason.

Work these out before you fill in the form

Your DM buyer rate. Of everyone subscribed to you, roughly how many have ever bought anything at all in messages? Divide that by your subscriber count. Module 1 said a worked inbox produces 25 to 33 percent. Where are you?

Your effective hourly rate. Take last month's total earnings, after the platform's cut, and divide by the hours you actually worked, including filming, editing, posting and messaging. Be honest about the hours. This number is usually the one that makes people go quiet.

Your split. How much of last month came from subscriptions, and how much from DMs? Module 1 said the inbox should be most of it.

Then fill this in

This goes straight to me, not to a database somewhere. I read every one personally, and here is who I am so you know whose desk it lands on.

If your numbers show you are doing well on your own, I will tell you that, and you should stay independent. If they show a ceiling you cannot get past alone, I will tell you that too, and we can talk about whether a team makes sense. Either way you keep everything in this training and you owe nothing.
